She stood then, smoothing out her shirt, and knocked on the long one sided mirrored that ran the length of the back wall, " Bring her in."Ī second door, differing from the one Briar came in through appeared at the side wall. They couldn't sneak past that, so it looked like the time for subtlety was over, " Alright Val." Proctor nodded to her, " You're up." There were two sentries now, looks like they'd doubled up, and every man and woman standing guard had a nasty looking gun. The ice on the road was melting around him in neat circles, and he was the only one of them whose breath wasn't clouding up.Īs they grew closer to the front gate, they veered off to the side. Otto was doing his best to cool down, they probably had heat sensors and the last thing they needed for their stealthy entrance was a walking pizza oven, but he wasn't doing a very good job. Jean would be a big help right now. Proctor found herself thinking, He's our ideal scout, and good protection from snipers. They weren't the most inconspicuous of groups at the moment, they never really were, actually, but right now, six young adults of every shape and size sneaking along a deserted road, one of them casually carrying a knife, would be enough to trip some alarm bells. ![]() If they spot us coming because they could see your ego coming over the hill then things get a lot more difficult." We're on location duty anyway, so you two will most likely find them. Proctor thought about it and then said, " Well, just stick close to me. I sort of totalled mine yesterday when we got cornered." Listening to Proctor's plan, and hearing Marco remind everyone he didn't have a phone himself, reminded Everett that he too was lacking, " Oh, yeah, um, same, actually. So, Alex, how quickly do you think you could run back here?" Val and Otto should be busy burning the place down, and we'll need Marco and Everett incase someone gets injured or tranquilized. Proctor answered Alex's question as they started to move off, "If Marco's uninjured, he'll drive us back again, but we need someone to turn back and get the van once we find Jean and Bisera. He felt butterflies swell up in his stomach and forced them down - now was not the time to be scared, because Jean and Bisera were probably terrified and they needed help. They set off quietly, lacking the energy they'd had in the van. It still wasn't quite as flashy as the ability to control ice, but he'd live. Maybe a knife was old fashioned, but he was glad to have it over a gun. I'll try and figure out how to use it on the job." He joked lightly, turning it over in his hands. At this point he in life, he didn't even question why Marco had a knife with him, he just accepted it gratefully, " Thanks.
